Your own IP addresses and AS number

Independent PI address space and your own autonomous system free your network from any single ISP. We act as your sponsoring LIR with RIPE NCC, handle the paperwork and help you bring BGP online.

  • Sponsoring LIR for RIPE NCC
  • BGP setup help included
  • Available across the EU
IP and AS registration

What you get out of it

Independence from ISPs

PI addresses are registered to you, not to a provider, so you keep them when you change ISPs and never have to renumber your network.

Uninterrupted connectivity

With your own AS you can multihome: announce your addresses to several providers over BGP, and traffic keeps flowing even if one of them fails.

Paperwork done

We prepare the RIPE NCC request, sign the sponsoring LIR contracts and complete the registration, so you do not have to learn RIPE policy.

BGP help included

Our engineers help configure the BGP sessions on your routers, MikroTik and other platforms, until your announcements are live.

What the service includes

  • PI IPv4 and IPv6 address registration with RIPE NCC
  • AS number registration and transfers
  • Sponsoring LIR contracts and all RIPE paperwork
  • IPv4 transfer or lease at market prices
  • BGP configuration help on MikroTik and other routers
  • Service available across the EU

Price on request: it depends on the block size and RIPE fees, so tell us what you need and we will put a number on it.

How it works

  1. 1

    Tell us what you need

IPv4 or IPv6, block size, an AS number or all of it: we check the options and quote the price.

  2. 2

    We handle RIPE

Request, contracts and registration with RIPE NCC are done by us as your sponsoring LIR.

  3. 3

    Go live with BGP

You receive your resources and we help configure BGP on your routers, up to a working multihomed setup.

IP and AS questions

What is PI address space and how does it differ from PA?

PI (provider independent) addresses are registered directly to your organization through a sponsoring LIR, so they stay with you when you change ISPs. PA (provider aggregatable) addresses belong to your provider: when you leave, you return them and renumber your whole network. If independence matters, PI is the one to pick.

Why would I need my own AS number?

An autonomous system number lets you run BGP and announce your PI addresses to several providers at once, a setup called multihoming. If one provider fails, traffic flows through the others and your services stay reachable. We register the AS number and help configure the BGP sessions.

How long does the registration take?

A typical PI or AS registration with RIPE NCC takes 1 to 3 weeks from the signed documents, depending on how quickly RIPE processes the request. IPv4 transfers can take a little longer because finding a block on the market and moving it adds extra steps.

What do the RIPE fees cover?

RIPE NCC charges an annual fee for every independent resource, a PI block or an AS number, and it is paid through the sponsoring LIR. The fee keeps your resources registered in the RIPE database with you as the holder. The price we quote depends on the block size and these RIPE fees.

Can I still get IPv4 addresses?

Yes, but not from a free pool: IPv4 ran out years ago, so PI IPv4 blocks are transferred or leased on the market at market prices. We find the block, arrange the transfer and complete the RIPE registration. IPv6 PI blocks, in contrast, are readily available.

Can you take over my existing addresses or AS?

Yes. If you already hold PI addresses or an AS number under another sponsoring LIR, we can take over the sponsorship and handle the RIPE paperwork for the transfer. Your resources and announcements keep working during the change.

Do I need my own hardware to run BGP?

You need a router that speaks BGP, and it does not have to be expensive: MikroTik and many other common platforms support it. Our engineers help configure the sessions on your equipment until the announcements are live.

Is IPv6 worth registering as well?

Yes. IPv6 PI blocks are readily available from RIPE NCC, without the market scarcity of IPv4, so registration is straightforward. Many companies register an IPv6 block alongside their IPv4 order to be ready for dual-stack operation.
