Buy a domain without the renewal trap

Yes: CloudHosting renews .lv, .com, .eu, .net and .org at the same 12.00 EUR a year you pay to register them, and every zone on this page renews at its registration price except two. We do not use first-year teaser pricing, where a domain is advertised cheaply and then costs much more at renewal. The honest exceptions are .io, which renews at 55.00 EUR, and .shop, which renews at 39.00 EUR, because those registries raise their own price after the first year; both numbers are printed on the cards above rather than buried in the terms. That matters because a domain is a long-term cost: you keep it as long as the project exists, so the renewal price is what you really pay. Only VAT is added at checkout where it applies, and it is shown before you pay.

A .lv domain at CloudHosting costs 12.00 EUR a year excluding 21% VAT, and it renews at the same 12.00 EUR, so the yearly cost never changes. We are an accredited .lv registrar and register the name directly in the NIC.LV registry, without a reseller in between. The price already includes DNS for the zone on our nameservers, and for a private person the NIC.LV registry itself shows only the holder type and country in public WHOIS, so no privacy add-on is needed. There are no setup fees or hidden surcharges; VAT is added at checkout only for customers who have to pay it. For a Latvian audience it usually is, and CloudHosting registers .lv, the official country domain of Latvia, directly in the NIC.LV registry for 12.00 EUR a year. A local visitor reads a .lv address as a business that actually operates here, which helps with trust in a way a generic zone often cannot, and it is also the ending Latvian customers tend to guess and type first. If most of your customers are abroad, a .com or .eu may serve you better, and many companies register both and point one at the other, which any domain here can do. Because the renewal price stays at 12.00 EUR, trying .lv is a small commitment.

At CloudHosting six popular zones share the lowest price: .lv, .com, .eu, .net, .org and .shop cost 12.00 EUR a year excluding 21% VAT, so choosing between them is about the name and the audience rather than the money. Five of the six also renew at 12.00 EUR; .shop is the exception, because its registry charges more from the second year and it renews at 39.00 EUR, which is printed on its card. Two more caveats apply: .ai must be registered for at least 2 years, which the checker shows before you order, and individual names a registry flags as premium carry their own price. If none of the listed zones fits, over 500 other TLDs are available at checkout.

Yes: CloudHosting accepts transfers from other registrars and helps with the process free of charge. Unlock the domain at your current registrar, request the transfer authorization code there, then start the transfer with us and enter that code. For most gTLDs the transfer adds one year to the term you already have, billed at the normal yearly price, so no paid time is lost. The website and email keep working throughout, because a transfer changes the registrar, not the nameservers, and you can leave DNS untouched until you decide otherwise. If the code is rejected or the domain turns out to be locked, write to support and we will go through it with you.

For gTLDs such as .com, CloudHosting publishes a proxy contact in the public WHOIS database instead of your name, address and email, free for as long as you hold the domain. Public WHOIS records are routinely harvested for spam and cold calls, which is why hiding them matters. You remain the full legal owner: the proxy only changes what strangers see, not who controls the domain, and genuine legal or registry correspondence still reaches you. For .lv the mechanism is different, because the NIC.LV registry itself limits the personal data it publishes under GDPR, so a separate privacy service is not needed there. Nothing has to be enabled or paid for in either case.

No: a domain registered with CloudHosting can run on the CloudHosting nameservers, but that is an option, not a requirement. You can delegate the domain to any nameservers you prefer, for example those of your hosting provider or your own infrastructure, and change them in the client panel at any time. You do not need hosting from us either: a domain can be registered on its own and pointed wherever your site and email live. Switching nameservers does not affect ownership, the renewal price or the expiry date. One practical note: before switching nameservers, recreate your existing records, such as those for the website and mail, at the new DNS provider, so nothing stops working in between.

CloudHosting issues the renewal invoice 10 days before a domain expires and renews the domain as soon as that invoice is paid, so a lapse only happens when the invoice stays unpaid. Nothing is charged automatically, which is why the safest habit is to keep your billing email up to date and pay the renewal invoice in time. If the date passes, the domain stops resolving, and the website and any mail on it go down. Most zones then allow a grace period during which we can still restore the domain, but its length differs by zone, and recovery generally gets harder and more expensive the longer you wait. After that the name is released and anyone can register it, so if a domain of yours has expired, write to support straight away.

A domain registered with CloudHosting can be used as soon as registration completes, with no separate activation period. From there you can point the domain at any hosting through our nameservers or any others you choose, or simply keep the name in reserve. One honest caveat: if you later change DNS records or delegate the domain to other nameservers, some networks may show the change only after a few hours, sometimes up to 24, because of caching, so plan big changes for a quiet moment. If something does not resolve as expected, write to support and we will check it with you.

No: CloudHosting does not refund domain registrations, because the registry charges for a domain irreversibly the moment it is registered, and the same applies to renewals and transfers. Under our terms other services can be refunded within 14 days of paying the invoice, but domain registration and dedicated server rental are excluded. That is why this page shows the price, the renewal price and any minimum term before you order, and why it is worth checking the spelling of the name twice. If you registered a name by mistake, write to support anyway: nothing can be refunded, but we can help you point the domain somewhere useful or let it expire at the end of the paid year without further charges.
