Colocation questions

How much does server colocation in Riga cost?

Server colocation at CloudHosting in Riga costs 40.00 EUR a month excluding VAT for a 1U rack server or a tower server, plus electricity by meter. Installation, one public IPv4, the 1 Gbit/s uplink and 30 TB of monthly traffic are inside that price: no setup fee, no minimum term. Electricity is the only part that moves, metered per rack and invoiced separately, so the bill is one predictable line plus the kilowatt-hours your hardware actually draws. Several units or unusual hardware are quoted rather than priced from this page, because at that point a single figure for the whole footprint is usually cheaper than stacking unit fees.

How is electricity billed?

CloudHosting gives every rack its own electricity meter, reads it once a month and invoices the consumption alongside the flat 40.00 EUR per unit, so nothing is bundled, averaged or estimated. Efficient hardware shows up directly on your invoice: a server that idles most of the day genuinely costs less to run than one at constant load. If you want the number before you ship the machine, a plug-in power meter or the PSU reading in its management interface, multiplied by the hours in a month, gets you close enough to budget with. If you are unsure about the estimate, support will help you work out a typical figure.

Who runs the data centre where my server will stand?

CloudHosting SIA runs the data centre at Bērzaunes iela 1 in Riga itself: a Latvian IT infrastructure provider in business since 2016, not a reseller of racks in someone else's facility. The power, the cooling, the network under AS58269 and the engineers who rack your server are all ours, so there is no other operator to wait for when something needs doing. The site follows a Tier 3+ design, with a double-conversion UPS backed by a diesel generator. It is guarded and closed to visitors: you hand the server over at our office, and our engineers install it.

Can I ship my server to you instead of bringing it?

CloudHosting accepts servers sent by courier to Bērzaunes iela 1, Riga, and racks each one the day it arrives, with power, uplink and your IPv4 connected. Put your company name on the package so the engineers can match it to your order. Two things make that day go smoothly: pack the machine for transport, ideally in the original box with the drives secured and the rails included, and send us the tracking number plus any remote management details in advance. Then we can confirm arrival and tell you the moment the server is online, rather than hunting for an unlabelled box.

How fast can my server go live?

At CloudHosting a server that reaches Bērzaunes iela 1 in Riga during working hours is racked, powered, wired to the 1 Gbit/s uplink and given its IPv4 the same day in most cases. That works because we run the data centre ourselves and the engineers work a few metres from the rack, with no third party to schedule around. Order first so the unit and the address are reserved, and tell us roughly when the delivery is due. The real constraint is the courier: a package that turns up late in the evening gets racked the next morning.

Can I get access to my server after hours?

CloudHosting does not admit visitors to its Riga data centre, clients included, during working hours or after them: only a limited number of our own specialists have access. Physical work on your server is done by our engineers as remote hands on working days from 9:00 to 17:00 Riga time. The facility is under monitoring and incident response 24/7, so an outage that affects your equipment is handled at any hour. For a reboot, a disk swap or recabling, write to support: the engineers who installed your server work a few metres from the rack. Equipment you want to add or take back is handed over at our office at the same address.

Do you support BGP and my own IP space?

CloudHosting runs its own network under AS58269, so a BGP session for your equipment costs 50.00 EUR a month and announcing your PI prefix another 20.00 EUR, both listed as add-ons on this page. The facility is carrier-neutral, so bringing your own carrier or ordering a cross-connect instead of our transit is equally normal here. No address block of your own? Extra IPv4 addresses and /29 or /28 subnets are add-ons as well. Before configuring anything we need your AS number and the prefixes you intend to announce, so the paperwork can be checked and the session prepared on our side.

What if my server needs more than 1U?

At CloudHosting each additional 1U costs 20.00 EUR a month on top of the 40.00 EUR base fee, so a 2U chassis bills as the base unit plus one extra. A tower that does not take rails gets its own shelf at 40.00 EUR a month. A switch or firewall standing next to the server is covered by the network equipment add-on, a separate 1U at 40.00 EUR a month. Once you are past a few servers, ask for a quote instead: a single price for the whole footprint almost always beats the sum of the parts.

What is the difference between colocation and renting a dedicated server?

With CloudHosting colocation the server is yours and we host it for 40.00 EUR a month; with a dedicated server we own the hardware and rent it to you. Colocation buys rack space in Riga, a 1 Gbit/s uplink with 30 TB of monthly traffic and a public IPv4, while the configuration, the upgrades and the service life stay your decisions. Renting means no capital outlay, but you pay for the machine through the monthly fee for as long as you use it. With your own hardware you also supply the spare parts, though our engineers fit them as remote hands. If you already own a server with life left in it, colocation is normally cheaper over its remaining years; if not, our dedicated servers page lists configurations and monthly prices.

What languages does support speak?

CloudHosting support answers in English, Latvian and Russian, by phone, by email and through tickets in the client area. The data centre and the network are under monitoring and incident response 24/7, and engineers answer requests on working days from 9:00 to 17:00 Riga time; the same people read the whole thread, whichever language you write in. For colocation that includes remote hands: reboots, disk swaps and recabling are requested through the same channels and done by the engineers who work next to the racks. Keep the contacts in your account up to date, so we can confirm who is asking before anyone touches your equipment.

Is there a minimum term, and how do we leave if we need to?

CloudHosting colocation has no minimum term: each period is invoiced in EUR in advance, and nothing is charged automatically from a card or a bank account. To stop at the end of a paid period, simply do not pay the next invoice, or write to info@cloudhosting.lv and we stop issuing them; to end a service early, inside a period already paid for, the terms ask for 20 days' notice by email. The server is your property, so leaving means collecting it: agree a time with support and collect it at our office on a working day; our engineers take it out of the rack. Your data stays on your own disks, so there is nothing to export or hand back.
